When nudity becomes the new normal

49

The day you join a nudist resort, club or beach, you enter a new world of freedom and respect. However, there’s something you may not know yet: nudity may become your new normal. The moment nudity becomes your first choice of clothing, your norm changes. Clothing is no longer required, except for protection, its first and main purpose. Nudity is then your norm, your new normal.

Becoming a nudist

A lot of first time nudists will eventually become lifetime nudists. Every nudist will talk about this wonderful feeling of freedom, as soon you understand nobody cares about how you look. Nudity becomes therefore an accepted state. Generally, this is when you start to stop thinking about being naked. You just are enjoying the moment, without clothes.

Of course, time will come when you need to get dressed again. A certain level of sadness will fill you, as you leave this wonderful state of freedom. Rapidly, if weather and security allow, you will feel the need to get naked again. This could be your home, your garden or any place that accepts your nudity.

After a couple of days or weeks, you will feel immensely better entirely naked than with any form of clothing, even light and small. This is the moment I call the new normal. Your nudity will feel natural, simple, a real no-brainer. Up to a point that you will feel the need to share this with your friends and family. This is also the moment when you will want to have some books on naturism to know more, to subscribe to the magazine of your local naturist federation and leave them on your coffee table, or to just ask your friends to join you in your naturist life.

The New Normal

And your new normal will be the beginning of a wonderful naturist life. Naturism is, IMHO, the most wonderful lifestyle. The levels of freedom, friendship and simplicity are just unmatched.

The only caveat is naturists are still a minority and nudism is not widely accepted. However, it’s growing with movements like Free the Nipple, that fights for men/women equal rights, or associations like APNEL, that fights for social nudity tolerance outside of enclosed naturist places, more and more people are exposed to non sexual nudity.

Four actions to take for all nudists/naturists:

  1. Become of member of your naturist federation and/or the naturist society.
  2. Be open to your friends and family about your lifestyle, there no shame in being a naturist and nothing to hide (literally).
  3. Be naked as much as possible, including at home, at the beach, during hikes, where social non-sexual nudity is permitted.
  4. Participate in naked events when possible like World Naked Bike Ride.

It may need another century to be able to chose nudity as a possible clothing option, but I hope we will get there and the next generations can freely chose to be naked whenever and wherever they want.

Try nudism and you will discover a new world, where nudity will soon become your new normal.

Naturist holidays on a sailing boat, just intimacy and nature

Our sailing boat Emelia is strictly private, and Nikos knows so well wild places with no other boat on the Aegean. Enjoy discovery and intimacy away from the summer crowds. Share these unique moments of total freedom as a couple, with your friends or family.

Naturist Activities on a Sailing Cruise

Unlike naturist trips on large cruise ships, a nudist cruise on a private sailing boat is organized with friends or family for a customized and intimate holiday in perfect harmony with the sea and its surroundings. Aboard the Emelia catamaran, freely bask in the sun and revel in a natural tan without lines! Nikos will steer you to small secluded beaches for naps in the shade or wonderfully naked hikes. What’s more pleasant than skinny-dipping in peaceful gulfs?

There’s no better way to spend beautiful days in complete liberty!

Enjoy nature

Holidays with respect to nature and… the sailing boat!

Savour the breeze as you sail along the Cyclades, live in rhythm with nature, discard your threads, and embrace the freedom of travelling light with the “bare” essentials! A nudist adventure and unforgettable nature vacation await as you discover Greece on a strictly private sailing boat manned by Nikos, your friendly skipper.

Skipper and owner of Emelia, Nikos passionately tends to his sailing boat to offer you the ultimate pampering experience as he takes you to remote wonders from island to island. This Greek sailing aficionado loves to navigate far from the crowds to ultimately reveal small coves or bays hidden away from the swarms of boats or tourists. First and foremost, a professional, he will not partake in naturism and ensures discreet respect of your legitimate pleasures, privacy and habits. Please respect his boat in return! This mutual courtesy will thus guarantee a great naturist holiday!

A delightfully different approach to a blissful nudist holiday!

No more restraints on swimsuits prone to leave tan lines and stick to the skin when wet! Farewell to dragging along heavy suitcases and bulky baggage weighed down with well-ironed clothes that will come out crumpled anyway… Finished is the search for ever-crowded nudist beaches where too often you must share your beach towel with a neighbour.

Experience living naked aboard and discover the benefits of nature: a free body in pure and exclusive contact with the air, the sun and the sea. Return to rejuvenating and reinvigorating sources for an energized body, a clear mind and a restored spirit!

Still hesitating: discover 5 reasons to go on a nakation. You’re ready? So book your private cruise aboard our catamaran Emelia!

A Simple Method to Share Naturist Activities With Others

2

A lot of naturists remain what I call closet naturists. They do not share their lifestyle with others, keeping it in the confines of their home, or going alone at the nude beach, without making nudist acquaintances. However, most closet naturists would love to meet other naturists and share their lifestyle with others, friends and families.

If you are a closet naturist or do not share with others openly your naturist lifestyle, this post is for you! If you are, however, a fully disclosed naturist who is very open with your lifestyle, this post may help you increase the number of your nudist friends by using simple and powerful psychological techniques.

If you learn and apply these techniques that I’m about to share, you will get more nudist friends, more acceptance of your lifestyle among friends and family, and more alignment with your deep beliefs. At the same time, you will avoid being considered as a pervert. Many people confuse nudism and sex, you will avoid shocking people by disclosing your lifestyle and you’ll avoid losing your friends because you shared your preferences when it comes to clothing, or the lack of.

Naturism is Backed by Science

The general rules that apply when you want to share that you are a naturist is that you need to agree to disagree. This means that the other people you will share that you are a naturist with may disagree with your arguments about why you are a naturist. You should be clear this should not have any impact on your relationship. The other person may disapprove your choice and may disagree to join you in nudist activities. Respecting other point of view is paramount of any balanced and healthy relationship. However, this rebuttal should not change your lifestyle, because this is who you are, and respect goes both ways.

Here are a few statistics that will bring confidence into disclosing you are a naturist. A 2015 survey carried out by the Naturist Education Foundation showed that:

  • 65% of adults agree that people should be able to enjoy nude sunbathing on a beach or other location that is accepted for that purpose.
  • 59% agree that people have the right to be nude in their homes or on their property, even if they may occasionally be visible to others.
  • 52% are not personally offended by the non-sexual nudity of others.
  • 35% have gone skinny-dipping or nude sunbathing with others.

So it seems clear that not only more than one third of the population has already bare all to go swimming of sunbathing, but more than two thirds are fine with naturism.

Furthermore, a team of researchers at Yale University, conducted a series of studies, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. They concluded that showing more skin makes others […] more sensitive and experienced. Of course, being true to oneself is an important step to living the life we aspire to. And being open with our naturist lifestyle to others is a key factor in psychological balance.

A Four-Step Action Plan

Here’s a four-step action plan to talk about naturist activities and increase your nudist acquaintances.

1. When possible, ask others about their naturist or nudist experience. Did they ever skinny-dip? Did they already go to a nudist beach? How do they see the naked body? Is nudity a private thing and why? The goal is to understand what their position regarding naturism is and to find a potential opening for step 2.

2. Suggest joining a naturist event by asking questions. If I were to suggest to come with me to a naturist beach, would you join? If I were to ask you to come with me to a naturist resort, would you join me? Be prepared to get a negative answer and move to step number 3. In case of a positive answer, jump immediately with enthusiasm to step number 4.

3. Provide a list of naturism benefits: naturism is legal and naturist federations are representing naturism in many countries; there are millions of naturists and thousands of naturist beaches, resorts and even towns; increased body acceptance and self-esteem; positive effects of vitamin D absorption; no more wet suits full of sand; no laundry; freedom of body and mind. Reinforce the acceptance of those benefits by asking questions on how they feel about them.

4. Set a date for a naturist event, beach, resort or just a simple barbeque in your garden if you have one. Explain that this will be a nude event, however, they may stay modest, as you will provide sarongs as cover-up should they wish. And to the men, explain that if they fear excitement, this is totally normal and should it happen, don’t make a fuss about it and stay calm and natural.

The Time for Naturist Activities is Now

So, do you want to be able to talk about your naturist activities, increase your nudist friends and get out of your closet? Here’s what to do right now to make sure that you’ll get to the results you want. Invite a set of friends to a dinner or just a drink at your place. If possible, ensure there are one or two other naturists among them, or at least one naturist friendly person you know. Leave naturist magazines or books prominently visible on your coffee table. They will play the ice breaker, as non-naturists will notice and make comments. If they joke about naturism, ask quietly and confidently why they are joking or making fun of naturism, then use their answer to start at step one above.

One important point to keep in mind is respect. You are not forcing your friends into naturism. Many people will not join you for multiple reasons, and you must accept this. However, if you do not talk to them about naturism, there’s almost zero chance they join you. And, in most of the case if they do not join, they will not care and it will not change your relationship, except you will be relieved that they now know you are a naturist. And this is priceless.

We love to read your comments. Please share your experience about sharing your naturist lifestyle to others and the best tips to do so.

Le Bonheur de Vivre Nu, the Happiness of Naked Living, cannot be more suited to to this site, as happiness and nudity are its themes. This is the tagline of the new poster of the French Federation of Naturism. This poster shows normal people enjoying this wonderful lifestyle.

Nudism makes people happy or, to the least, contributes to their happiness. Wonderful initiative of the FFN! Beyond the poster, if you are a naturist, join your federation (here’s the link to join the FFN). The more people joining, the stronger the federation. We need all naturists! Our federation will work to allow more beaches, bring more people to naturism and organize naturist events.

Naturism has many benefits: social, physical, psychological and political. For a very low cost, naturists adds a wealth of benefits provided by their federation. We, naturists, love our lifestyle. We also know it’s not well understood and accepted by many, mixing social nudity with sexual activities. Our federation helps promoting naturism with a clear and concise message. It helps us talking to our friends and acquaintances about naturism, and promoting naturism.

I strongly believe naturism is for every body and everybody. Nobody should be left behind and we should not be afraid to ask people to join us. Our federation helps in this endeavor. Throw away all your swimsuits…

4

…and never purchase swimsuits, ever!

Swimsuit is one of the dumbest inventions! It gets wet and dry much slower than your own ski. It traps sand and other unwanted objects or animal. It’s a trap for germs. Its two uses, modesty and fashion, can just be disdained in most of the situation when you are a naturist. If you stop wearing swimsuit and embrace naturism to go to the beach or the pool, you will immensely embrace the various benefits of naturism, but most of all, you’ll avoid potential infections, sweat gland blockage and itchy red bumps.

Swimsuits Make A Lovely Home To Yeast And Bacteria

The famous fashion magazine Cosmopolitan claims it in an article entitled 13 Clothing Items That Are Secretly Ruining Your Health: “A warm, moist bikini bottom makes a lovely home for yeast and bacteria to flourish”. It backs it up by a quote from an MD. And it offers the following advice: “change into dry bottoms as soon as you step out of the pool”. So not only you need to have a bathing suit, but you need to change it to a dry bottom as soon as you get outside of the water! Don’t you think it’s a double punishment for a piece of clothing that utterly useless? To avoid this, just drop the swimsuit completely and bath entirely naked.

What if you cannot get naked, in a public pool or on a textile beach, for instance? Well, there’s really not a simple answer to this dilemma and you’ll probably have to keep one swimsuit that you will be using in those situations. Just keep one and toss it away as soon as you can.

Take Action and Get Naked More Often

Here are three steps to take action to avoid swimsuits at all costs and rip the many benefits of swimming and sunbathing entirely naked:

1. Open your closet and lay down all your swimsuits on your bed. All of them! (I picked this process, and adapted it to naturism, from Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.) Choose one, and one only, the one you love the most (or dislike the least), the one that “speaks to the heart,” as Marie Kondo advises. This is the one you are going to keep on those occasions you cannot go naked. Put all the others in a bag and sell them on eBay or give them (don’t throw them away, they need to go to people who want/need them or be recycled).

2. Make a list of all the nude and clothing optional beaches in the area as well as public pools who have open hours for naturists, and pin that list on your fridge or in a place you can view it easily (and yes every visitor will see it as well, be open about naturism). It may not be easy. You may live in a place where there are very few nude and clothing optional places. Go to your naturist/nudist federation web site, call your nearest nudist club, you will find for sure happy nudists willing to help you in your search.

3. On the next occasion somebody proposes to go to the beach or pool, insist on going to one of the nudist beaches or pools you listed. If it’s a private party, ask the pool owner if it’s OK for him or her, if you bathe naked, as you are a naturist. If no option is available, pack your only suit (and a change), and seize any opportunity to drop your only suit. Even on a public beach, sometimes nudity is tolerated, or if the beach is big enough, you may annoy nobody if you get naked.

Easy as Ready, Get Set, Go!

Here’s what to do right now to make sure that you can “survive” with one swimsuit only and maximize your opportunities to get naked on the beach or at the pool. Don’t delay by thinking about it. Go to your closet and execute action one above. Don’t think twice, just do it! Then, switch on your computer/tablet and browse the Internet looking for nude beaches and pools. The web site of your nudist/naturist federation is a good start if you don’t know where to look for the information. If you want to be proactive, invite your best friends to join you for a naked beach party over the next sunny weekend. You’ll kill two birds with one stone: let people know you’re a naturist and enjoy a day at the beach in your birthday suit. There are great chances that most of your friends will join and you will expand your naturist friendship. And of course, let us know how it went!

How many swimsuits do you own? Did you get rid of all of them? How did it go? How did you let others know that you prefer swimming and sunbathing naked? Leave your comments in the box below.

Naked meditation is bliss!

3

Meditating has many benefits. If you meditate regularly you get a sharper mind, sleep better and benefit from an increased awareness of situations. With meditation, you drop anxiety and decrease the feeling of being overwhelmed. I’ve added naked meditation to my morning routing some years ago now and have since then been meditating almost everyday wearing nothing.

Scientific studies have demonstrated the many benefits of meditation. This post from healthline.com for instance gives 12. Stress reduction, self-awareness enhancement and sleep improvements are three among many. Everybody can meditate. It’s not a matter of science or of learning a set of specific techniques, it’s a matter of taking a quiet moment for yourself, stopping the constant washing machine of your brain. There are dozens of websites and apps that will help you. Personally, I’m using the Calm app on my iPhone, but the choice is yours.

One major difference in my meditation practice, from many people who meditate, is I meditate entirely naked: no watch, no jewels, and, of course, no clothes. I am a naturist, and as you’ve read on this blog, I tend to spend as much time as possible in the nude and perform most of the actions, sports included, entirely naked. So, meditation is not an exception to my nude lifestyle. Mindfulness and naturism were made to meet.

Here are seven reasons that come to mind when I think about nude meditation.

Comfort

This one is almost a no-brainer for any seasoned naturist. Nudity is very, very comfortable, temperature permitting, of course. Meditation is a lot about relaxation, letting go your stress and your incessant brain washing machine. Naturists accept their body and particularly their naked body as it is. They not put a “sex” label on their naked body. Therefore, a naked body is just a body that is exposed to the sight of others without preconceived idea of any nature. When you accept this idea firmly, your birthday suit becomes the most comfortable suit ever worn.

Every meditation practitioner will tell you to unfasten your belt, lose any tight clothing, so you can breathe freely. I tell you to drop all your clothes and seize the opportunity to drop all your jewels, watch, earrings, glasses, bracelets, so your body is entirely as it was at birth: plain naked. When you meditate, feel, and enjoy, the absence of those material objects. Make a conscious decision to embrace your naked body as the most comfortable outfit. You may resist this thought. Your unconscious who has been accustomed to see the naked body as sexual may resist. Don’t resist the thought, just change it! Make the conscious decision that nudity is comfortable and feel how this comfort manifest into an increased well-being.

Feeling Your Body

This change of thought will allow you to feel your naked body. It is not sexual representation or as no sexual connotation, it is just a wonderful creation that was designed to be naked, not clothed. When meditating and getting relaxed, feel consciously all your body parts: your feet, your calves, your legs, your buttock, your genitals, your belly, your breast, your back, your shoulders, your arms, your neck, your head, and all its parts, your chin, your mouth, your nose, your eyes…

Feel the air going around your exposed skin. Feel the floor under you and the points of contact with it. If you are sited, feel the cushion, the chair under your body, the floor under your feet. If you lie down, feel all the contact point with the floor and feel the arch of your lower back. Try gently to relax it so your spine fully touches the floor. Going from toe to head and head to toe is a wonderful experience to regain your senses. Your skin if covered with nerves that provides information to your brain on a constant basis. But we forgot about them. They are on an unconscious level. Bring it back to consciousness and be grateful of this wonderful body of yours.

Body Appreciation

Appreciate your body, love it! Yes, love it. Oh, I know what you think. How can I love a body with so many flaws? Look at my love handles! Look at my double chin! Look at my skinny legs! Keep those thoughts coming and replace them one after the others by I love my love handles. I love my chin. I love my legs. And I love them so much, I am going to take care of them deeply so my love will increase every day.

It’s not about appreciating your body with sexual gratification, although loving your body and feeling it deeply may create arousal. Let the arousal come. There’s nothing wrong about sexual pleasure. Do not resist, enjoy the moment. However, you are not looking for sexual pleasure by appreciating your body, it’s a by-product, not the end goal.

Body appreciation during naked relaxation is loving this wonderful creation that is your body. Rejoice! Put a large smile on your face as you go around and tell each part that you live them. Feel the love flowing to your body and let it flow in you, so your relaxation deepens.

Quality of the Relaxation

Depending on the day, on your stress level or on any other factor, the quality of your relaxation may vary from day to day. Some day you will reach deep relaxation in a matter of second, some other day, you may never get your mind from spinning. However, by getting naked, by feeling and appreciating your body and the sensations on your bare skin, I discovered that the quality and the depth of my meditation increased.

Your exposed skin, vibrating in harmony with the nature and the universe is probably linked to this quality and depth increase. With deepened meditation and relaxation, you let energy move more freely and you feel it.

Energy Flow

Chi, or vital energy, animates the body. This energy is central to martial arts like Tai Chi and to medical practice like acupuncture. Meditation is a way to let the energy flow around the vital canals. By meditating naked, energy is not stopped or hindered by tight clothes.

During a naked meditation session, you may feel like streams of electricity along your legs, arms or entire body. You may feel your muscles contracting or relaxing automatically. You may even feel movements that you did not start. All of them is a manifestation of chi rebalancing itself along its canal, the meridians. Naked meditation allows this natural rebalancing of chi.

Freeing the Body Helps Free the Mind

Meditation helps the mind to calm down, to focus and to regain control. Naked meditation helps to realize that a free body leads to a free mind. Our body does not need any cover to be who we deeply are. The same applies to the mind. We often play a role, dictated by society to fit in. This is superfluous. It’s immensely more satisfying to be who we are instead of playing somebody else’s role. By freeing your body of society’s contingencies, you free your mind of useless thoughts and behaviours.

By meditating naked, you free your body and your mind. You slowly find your true self and realign your life with the core values of respect, love and benevolence. You quickly realize that nudity is our complete normal and natural state of being.

Nudity Is Our Natural State

We were born naked and if you let children choose their clothing, they will choose almost exclusively nudity when they can. It’s the parent’s behaviour that will form their conception of nudity. With naked meditation, you can unfold the reality of our body being a wonderful creation that does not need any cover. The wonderful sensation of air around your skin, amplified by the relaxation of the naked meditation confirms quickly, sometimes even during the first naked meditation session that nudity is a complete normal and natural state.

It’s not a surprise that most indigenous people live entirely naked with no shame. Being closer to nature that our civilization has become over the years, they know nudity is the most comfortable clothing option. Our skin is the result of hundreds of thousands of years of evolution. Our body was made so we can live naked, like all the other animals of the creation and evolution. By meditating naked you are rediscovering this potent truth.

Starting naked meditation

How can you start your naked meditation practice, you may ask? Here are four simple steps to perform to get all the benefits of naked meditation:

  1. Identify a quiet place in your home where you know nobody will disturb you. If need be, lock the door and put a sign on it to warn potential people that the door is temporarily locked. You may have to let your spouse, your kids or your roommates know that you will lock yourself to meditate in this room. If you can meditate outside, it’s even better. Just make sure nothing will disturb your meditation.
  2. Get to your silent place and disrobe completely. Drop all your clothes, your watch, your jewels and your glasses. You may keep your wedding ring or your piercings, but the more you can drop the better.
  3. Sit or lie comfortably. No need to use a special posture. The important point is to be comfortable. You may need to add some pillow or cushion to be fully comfortable.
  4. Launch your app or your timer if you want a guided meditation or just a timed one and meditate!

Naked meditation does not cost you a dime but rewards you greatly. Here’s what you should do, right now! Identify the right quiet spot where you can do your naked meditation, download a guided meditation app if you don’t have one, find a slot in your calendar and schedule your naked meditation. Be sure to ring a reminder so you can rip the benefits of naked meditation!

Share your experience of naked meditation in the comment box below. In the meantime, get naked, stay naked, live naked and share the naked love!

Nudity Is Our Natural State

There are two important words in this title: natural and nudity. For hundreds of years now, human beings have tamed nature. It has transformed forests into crops, destroying the habitat of many indigenous species. It has pumped gas and released carbon into the atmosphere. It has grown wild animals into domestic ones. But nature rebelled: global warming, food poisoning, and increased inequality.

But nature rebelled: global warming, food poisoning, and increased inequality.

Stopping and Reflecting

At the same time, we are told the world is better than ever. Better than the last thousands of years we have an archive on, with increased education, healthcare and peace. And yes, there are many reasons to be optimistic and hopeful. We will continue to tame nature, but in a better, more respectful way. We will continue to protect animals, plants and overall our beautiful planet, because there’s no plan B, despite efforts by many to conquer Mars or other planets.

Even if we were in a position, in many years, to go and colonize other planets, most human beings will have to stay on planet Earth. So, we have no other choices but to collaborate and protect our speck of sand in the vast universe.

Going Back to Nature

One of the most crucial aspects of this protection starts with the understanding of our place in nature. Yes, we are special because we can think and reason, but no, we are not special, as our living mechanism is the same as most of other living creatures, at least mammals. Do a simple experiment if you can. Pack a rucksack and go to a nearby forest where you can walk for hours without meeting any housing. Spend a night if you can, alone in nature and reflect on your experience.

If the weather is good, the experience will be pleasant, although some aspects of it may not be as pleasant as you may have expected. Insects will have crawled on you or bite you. You may have run short of water or food. You may have got lost. Nature is not as friendly as it seems. Although, if you learn how to read its many signs, it will become your friend and will help you. Despite some uncomfortable experiences, nature is our friend if, and only if, we respect it and understand how to benefit mutually.

Enjoying Nudity

If you can spend that weekend in the forest, try to leave your clothes at home. Yes, spend the weekend in the forest totally naked. You will be in the same outfit as all the animals of the creation. None of them was born to be dressed with clothes. Neither are we. We are born naked and get dressed to get protected from the cold and other dangers, then because society has decided that clothes were necessary for modesty.

Nudity is a perfect natural state. Not only it’s natural, it’s comfortable. Our birthday suit was made sur-mesure! The more time you spend naked, the more it becomes the best clothing choice. Of course, it’s not about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It’s not about refusing the benefits of our modern society. It’s about keeping what’s good for us and nature, and deliberately refusing what’s bad for nature and in the end bad for us.

Are clothes bad? Yes, mostly. Most clothes contribute greatly to pollution and global warming. Clothes are used to show social status and contributes to inequality creation. Again, not all clothing is bad. But clothing should be natural and used for protection. It’s a matter of great respect for nature. Nudity should be our first and preferred choice. Naturism is a wonderful lifestyle. Let’s, together, chose naturism!

Sport, four reasons why practicing nude is far better than clothed

3

Before jumping into the topic, I know what you’re thinking: some sports can’t be practiced in the nude! I can’t play American football naked, I can’t ice skate naked or I can’t jog naked around my block. True! Some sports require clothing for protection purpose or just for modesty as being naked in the streets may not be legal. But I challenge you to rethink the way you’re practicing your favourite sport and see if you can try, at least try it, naked!

That said, many sports can be practiced naked: running, golfing, swimming, hiking, tennis… Of course, for most, you will need to practise them in a naturist environment. Most naturist resorts have tennis courts, some golf courses, a pool, running and hiking tracks. So, this is a no-brainer. However, some sports can be practiced naked at home, like a workout, or in a natural setting, like running or hiking in forests or the mountains. You can even, and it’s much better, to plan your sports practice with friends and family so you go, for instance, running and hiking naked as a group.

So here are four reasons to make you think about moving your sport to naked sport:

  1. Sweat evaporates
  2. Movements are free
  3. Muscles are visible
  4. Cut costs on sports clothing

Are you ready? Do I have your attention? Are you curious? Great! Let’s continue together.

1.        Sweat Evaporates

After some minutes of moving your muscles, you will break a sweat. Now, let’s see what happens if you’re wearing your sports gear. Sweat is mostly composed of water. And with water, your clothes become wet. Of course, you may have chosen “breathing fabric,” hence the water evaporates from your clothes faster than from cotton or other natural fabric.

Now, if you’re used to wearing those sports clothes, how do you feel when you take out your wet clothes? Good, no? Good because mostly, your skin gets rid of this wet piece of garments. So, why wearing this wet shirt and short when practicing? Why not get rid of them totally to let our skin breath and our sweat evaporate?

If you’re on the fence to get completely naked for your next workout or jog, just get rid of your shirt. Ladies, you can just keep a sports bra for support and modesty, at least at the beginning. What is going to happen when you let your skin sweat without clothes? First you sweat will partially evaporate. Second, it will flow freely on your skin, and finally, it will drip on the floor. So if you work out at home for example, put a towel on the floor and keep a towel handy to wipe extra sweat from your body.

If you’re running or hiking, let the sweat flows and evaporates naturally. After a couple of tries, you won’t think any more about sweating, but you will feel much more comfortable, because you don’t have to wear a wet shirt. And this feeling will make wearing a shirt uncomfortable and you’ll be able to drop the short and the underwear too.

2.        Movements Are Free

When you’re running a marathon, you put tape on your nipples because the fabric can hurt them and make them bleed! Yes, really! Take a shirt off, and no more bleeding! Same chafing happens on your armpit or between your legs. Your skin rubbing on the fabric of your shirt and shorts gets irritated, gets itchy and sometimes start bleeding. Add to this that some fabric uses heavy chemicals and you have the perfect storm for skin rash. The best solution? Well, you probably guessed it: get rid of those clothes.

When you’re naked, no clothing piece comes rubbing against your skin. Actually, your sweat acts as a natural lubricant to avoid chafing. Beyond skin problems, when you’re naked, no clothes impair your movements. You move totally freely.

There is only one reason to wear clothes: getting protected. Protected from the sun when you’re sunburned, protected from a dangerous element to avoid being hurt, or protected from the eyes of people who are seeing nudity as immoral. Being clothes free when you don’t need protection provides freedom of movement, freedom of the body and freedom of the mind.

3.        Muscles Are Visible

If you’re into working out, you do work out to be in good health as well as to grow or maintain your muscles. When you’re working out naked, in front or not of a mirror, you see those abs working, those thighs contracting and those pecs growing! When they’re obscured by a shirt and a pair of shorts, you’ll need to wait until you’re in the locker room to have a glimpse.

Well, no need waiting, just drop the shirt and the short and work out in your birthday suit! Another great advantage of seeing your body is the ability to see if the movement you’re doing is correct. You have a great view of your lower back for instance in order to check it’s flat and not too arched. The same happens to check that your legs are straight. By practicing your preferred sport naked, you can see if you’re doing all your movements correctly.

If you don’t have a mirror, use your smartphone front camera. Record you and review the movements, no clothes will come between your eyes and your body.

4.        Cut Costs on Sports Clothing

I kept this one for the end. Have you realized how costly those sports gears are? If you’re practicing three or four times a week, you will need three or four sets of those. Not counting that you’ll need to do the washing. Of course, by being naked, you’ll need towels. But let’s be honest, whether you’re naked or not, you’ll use towels, so better have some ready.

But sports clothes, really? Think about what you could do if you don’t spend those hundreds of dollars, pounds or euros on those expensive sports clothes! Drive to a remote place for a naked hike, fly to a remote nudist resort for a full week of naked camping, or just put the money on your savings account for your next naturist holidays!

If you run or hike naked in nature, you’ll need a sarong or shorts to use as cover-up, but beyond this, nothing more but a good pair of shoes and a hat. The only thing I don’t compromise on for naked activities is shoes. I’m a big fan of Vibram Five Fingers for hiking and high-end semi-pro running shoes. Those shoes support you, protect your feet and also your ankles, knees and hips. But beyond shoes, I just have a couple of shorts and I use standard cotton t-shirts to move around to the place I will practice my favourite sports.

So here are the four reasons why practicing sport is much better in the nude. It’s all about comfort, health, openness and cost reduction. You can add it will increase your vitamin D intake and the virtuous circle is closed! Are you practicing your sport naked? Share your experience in the comment box below.
